Past and Present Juxtapositioning
On the first page of the novel, Juan Rulfo is already switching between the past and the present. This establishes the motif that time is very important, and will be an ongoing and repeptitive theme. In addition, the conscience of Juan Preciado is going to be how Juan Rulfo can break the fourth wall and narrate and explain details that some of the characters are unaware of; however, he can only play the conscience or perspective of each character, so he is limited to how much information he can provide, based on the background knowledge of each character. In doing so, there is only a certain amount of information that Juan Rulfo can deliver at times in the book, which propels the reader to read on to find out more and to be able to comprehend all the information and draw a conclusion to the mystery of who Pedro Paramo really was.

Luke nice job with the use of a conjunctive adverb. Don't write such long sentences, it confuses me.

What is the thematic significance of this tactic?
